My Top 5 Wedding Venues for Videography in Northern Ireland

With so many choices that tailor to your unique needs as a wedding couple, here's a quick guide to my top 5 wedding venues in Northern Ireland that lend themselves incredibly well to wedding videography.

Every wedding deserves to be recorded so that each wedding couple has a timeless wedding video to look back on for years to come.

Some venues are so charming that they cry out to be captured by a professional videography service.

Many of our wedding venues in Northern Ireland are breath-taking, and any wedding videographer worth their salt will dream of recording a wedding there. I’ve written in detail about the best wedding venues in Belfast, but this post is looking further afield.

When brides and grooms look back on their special day, it's crucial that they feel the same magic whenever they watch the wedding videography as they felt on the day itself.

With that in mind, here are my top 5 picks for Northern Ireland Wedding Venues that ooze elegance and fairytale romance.

The top 5 locations for wedding videos - Northern Ireland

1. Glenarm Castle River Lodge

Glenarm Castle grounds

Wedding videographers love to film weddings at Glenarm Castle River Lodge because it is so beautiful. The castle is set in picturesque gardens with cascading waterfalls in County Antrim.

It's the perfect place to capture all those magic moments between bride and groom and all the action from the wedding day itself.

Glenarm Castle and River Lodge are available for your ceremony, with the castle offering a drinks reception for up to 90 guests, while the River Lodge can accommodate up to 220 guests, making it a great choice for both smaller and larger weddings.

The grounds have idyllic locations for your wedding video, including the stunning Glenarm River and its scenic valley or the walled garden with its attractive blooms and hedge walls.

The variety in backdrops means that your wedding photographer and I can really get creative for your family and solo portrait sessions.

Wedding Videographers have a field day at this venue, which shows in the results.

You can expect beautiful backdrops and stunning footage from your wedding video when you choose Glenarm Castle as your venue.

For me, the greatest asset of this venue is the team who work here.

They are so helpful and accommodating, making your wedding day run smoothly, and they understand how important capturing those memories on film is - this is priceless when I'm working a long day and I often rely on wedding venue staff communicating any changes in the plan, letting me setup in advance and get the best shots of you.

2. Ballygally Castle Hotel

Ballygally Castle

This venue is breathtaking inside and out, making it a perfect setting for your wedding video.

The castle provides plenty of photo opportunities with high beams and a historic element to this 17th century caslte with several indoor and outdoor spaces that can accommodate your ceremony and reception.

Ballygally Castle Hotel enjoys being at the heart of love, so they encourage suitors to make their proposals at the hotel, whether on the bay's golden sands or within the beautiful walled gardens. Book an overnight stay and let the staff know; they will be happy to help make it extra special.

The Ballygally Castle Hotel offers a Wedding Package that includes the use of their civil ceremony suite, or outside on a sunny day, or in their new purpose made ceremony garden room (one of my favourite ceremony rooms to film in). There’s a big communal ‘getting ready’ room (in one of their turrets!) and they offer overnight accommodation in the Wedding Room, breakfast in bed the next morning and late checkout at 1 pm. They also offer a range of wedding packages that include catering, so you can be sure your guests will be well looked after.

Set on acres of private grounds with spectacular views of the Antrim Coast, the Ballygally Castle Hotel is the perfect place to capture all those cherished memories on your wedding day.

I love shooting wedding videos at this venue because of the stunning scenery and the range of available indoor and outdoor spaces. We can go from stunning gardens to the beach in just a short walk that is friendly on the brides new shoes!

The team here are also fantastic; they go above and beyond to ensure your wedding day is perfect in every way.

Galgorm Castle and Resort is a must-see for anyone planning their marriage in Northern Ireland. This beautiful castle is set in over 245 acres of lush green parkland and features many original features that date back to the 16th century. The castle has been carefully restored and now boasts luxury accommodations, several restaurants, a spa, and an 18-hole championship golf course.

Galgorm Castle is licensed for civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 200 guests in its Great Hall. They offer a Wedding Package that includes the use of the Great Hall for your ceremony and reception and a Wedding Breakfast and overnight accommodation in one of their Deluxe Castle Rooms.

I love filming weddings at Galgorm Castle because it is such a versatile venue. There are many indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from, and with a river running through the estate it has the perfect backdrop for videography. Take a look at one of my samples from Galgorm here.

The grounds of Galgorm Castle are simply stunning and provide plenty of opportunity for your wedding videographer to get creative. Your wedding video will be a true work of art with its manicured gardens, serene lakes, and picturesque woodlands.

I love working at Galgorm castle. The building and grounds are stunning, and the team's wedding planning is top-notch. They host a lot of weddings so their team know exactly what they are doing. I know it will be something special when I shoot a wedding video here.

4. Magheramorne Estate

Magheramorne Estate

One of the newest additions to the Northern Irish wedding scene, Mageheramorne Estate is a hidden gem in County Antrim. Whenever I get the opportunity to be the wedding videographer at Mageheramorne Estate, I jump at the chance and I know it's going to be an enjoyable day.

5. Lissanoure Castle

Lissanoure Castle is set on over 500 acres of rolling countryside and features a fully restored 16th-century castle, which itself was built on the grounds of a 14th-century predecessor.

Despite its size and history, Lissanoure Castle remains a traditional family-run farming and forestry estate managed by the Mackie family.

Lissanoure Castle offers several areas for guests to enjoy their day. From The Coach House, which features the Macartney Room with a fully licensed bar, to The Gallery, which can seat up to 120 for the wedding breakfast and 200 for a reception, the castle can cater for all kinds of weddings. In cooler months, the lovely open-log fires in several rooms are perfect for cosy reception drinks for those intimate shots of your guests enjoying themselves.

The Castle Barn is spectacular and is another stylish option for the wedding breakfast. It is a stunning setting with high vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and chandeliers.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and the team at Lissanoure Castle never forget that. I adore working in this grand location, and the video footage is simply stunning.

Bonus: A unique wedding video location in Belfast

Many of the bigger locations for Northern Ireland wedding videos are slightly outside of Belfast. But within Belfast are a few hidden gems.

One of my favourites is The Ulster Museum, which offers the Belfast Room and The Atrium for wedding receptions. The Atrium is a bright and airy space perfect for your wedding breakfast in modern surroundings, while the Belfast Room has a traditional simplicity for more modest weddings. If you need a great wedding video Belfast location, The Ulster Museum is well worth a look.
