Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video

The Rabbit Hotel and Retreat Wedding Venue, Templepatrick is one of the top places to get married in Northern Ireland, and lends itself incredibly well to wedding videography.

As a Wedding Videographer Northern Ireland, it’s no surprise that you’re on the lookout for a wedding video of the Rabbit Hotel. With extensive experience filming weddings at this venue, feel free to have a look at some of my work as a wedding videographer at the Rabbit and see for yourself why the Loft Wedding venue was voted the top place to get married in 2022.

The Rabbit Hotel in Templepatrick is contemporary wedding venue affectionately known as ‘the loft’ or ‘love at the loft’. This venue blends rustic charm with contemporary elegance, offering a unique setting for your special day.

Hotel and Spa

As a wedding videographer I’ve had the privilege of filming at this venue and get to experience exactly why brides and grooms keep choosing the Rabbit to host their ceremony and reception.

Just a 30 minute drive from Belfast, The loft is the heart of wedding celebrations at the Rabbit Hotel and has great transport links from anywhere in Northern Ireland, making it perfect for bridal prep as part of full-day coverage.

Formerly the Templepatrick Hotel, the Rabbit boasts architectural elegance with high vaulted ceilings adorned with twinkling chandeliers entwined with celebratory planting and ivy for that romantic ambience. The reception space has a mezzanine area with a modern minimalist warehouse feel.

Love at the Loft

Grand fireplaces are found throughout the hotel reception area, ceremony space and behind the top table, which is moved through the night to make space for the wedding band or DJ and turns into your dancefloor area.

The outdoor terrace overlooks the hotel garden and a charming lake, complete with comfy lounge area where wedding guests can retire to enjoy the sunsets – or relax by an outdoor open fire.

The Loft accommodates weddings from 100 to 150 guests. I’ve filmed weddings here with less than 70 guests and the grand banquet tables for the dinner really fill the room – I wouldn’t recommend this venue for intimate weddings.

Perri & Keith - Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video

Andy and Amy chose the Rabbit Hotel for their ceremony and reception

Wedding video of Keith and Perri, The Rabbit Hotel, Northern Ireland

When Perri and Keith chose to get married in the Rabbit Hotel (the Loft wedding venue), they knew they needed a wedding video to properly capture their day. What they didn’t know was that my camera assistant was going to bring his Harley Davidson motorbike so that Keith (an avid Harley fan) could get some brilliant photos and wedding video footage of the two of them on one of his favourite models of Harleys!

A sort of industrial theme to reception space is offered by the chic contemporary character of the open plan banquet hall and vaulted ceiling adorned with warm lighting and textured walls and exposed beams.

The dining experience is a family-style feasting banquet with Mediterranean-inspired shared platters and a mini-dessert station with it’s signature carrot cake. To read more about Perri and Keith’s love story be sure to take a look at their featured wedding.

Ceremony Room – the Boathouse and Warren

For couples dreaming of their Ceremony at the Rabbit, the newly renovated Boathouse offers a fantastic setting.

It includes lakeside views, rustic charm and is licenced for civil ceremonies, partnerships, blessings, and vow renewals, accommodating up to 120 guests in the rustic and trendy space.

The venue operates a one wedding per day policy, offering privacy and dedicated service. The Loft and hotel is owned by the same company that own the Galgorm and Old Inn – so service is at the heart of everything they do and as a creative wedding videographer they’re always happy to help me work for my couples.

Wedding Planning Team

The Rabbit Hotel has a dedicated 5 person wedding planning team with a wide range of experience. Every time I’m filming weddings in this venue I enjoy the chance to work with them – they’re incredibly accommodating. Whether I’m asking them to hold up the wedding dinner for 5 more minutes for shots of the bride and groom at their award-winning outdoor spa with its iconic disco ball, or going through the running order of the ceremony so that I know how many cameras and tripods to use for speakers – the staff are great to work with. The signature bar isn’t where you’ll find your furry friend, but the outdoor spa offers a nature-inspired woodland style hideaway complete with kit robes and buck towels.

With 33 boutique rooms, guests can stay in the hotel and you and your new husband or wife can check-in to the bridal suite the night of your wedding for that extra special stay, making time for room service and the included amenities. Your wedding guests booking accommodation get a special rate for their retreat to enjoy the comfort that this venue has to offer or even when making their own litter!

Rabbit Hotel Spa

Did I mention the Spa Facilities? Guests can unwind in their beach themed roman-inspired outdoor bath with  mirror ball, which is perfect for night time shots of the couple and post-wedding relaxation.

Normally after the ceremony in the Boat House, a couple will form a ‘receiving line’ in the hotel garden, preferably with a confetti shot to boot! I often try and use a 35mm lens on my camera on the stabiliser for that dreamy shot for the highlights film, and have my second shooter fly the drone over the guests for a second angle for that candid wedding moment. Using either Davinci Studio or Premier Pro I’ll then stitch the clips together for the perfect edit!

If I arrive in time to setup properly then I’ll setup my RGB video lights on gravity poles and balance the light coming in from outside of the boathouse with a 4000 kelvin white light – to fill in the shadows caused by the natural light. I’ve told more of their love story here.

Wedding Videography

I’ll also be sure to use timecode throughout the day, with my newly added Deity PR-2 Lavalier microphones attached to the groom, the best man, father of the bride and father of the groom ready for their speeches so that I can easily synchonise the footage in the editing room.  Often I’ll place extra video lights onto the skylights within the loft, or mount them to the metalwork to add to the natural light and turn the loft into more of a creative space for wedding videography. The audio helps to add to the storytelling aspect of a more emotional wedding film.

Given its name from the furry woodland animal with whiskers and a cottontail, the hotel has a number of statue rabbits hidden within burrows that are captured mid-hop. The on site restaurant is usually where the wedding photographer and videographer take their vendor meal. Amongst the wedding vendors in Northern Ireland it’s well known that I love their chillie chicken with rice! Living local to Templepatrick I often take my wife here for date nights and wedding anniversaries.

I’m often asked by couples if I can provide a full documentary edit after filming in this venue, which is part of my wedding video packages, or if I can film in a more candid way – which is absolutely fine for my film style as I don’t like the typical static poses and prefer a more natural wedding video.

Rachel & Danny - Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video

Both from Portadown, Rachel and Danny chose this venue for their religious ceremony and reception. I’ve told their love story as part of one of my featured weddings.

Craig & Nicole - Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video

Wedding video of Craig and Nicole, The Rabbit Hotel, Northern Ireland

Craig and Nicole chose to get married at the Love at the Loft wedding venue. Having a wedding video was a last-minute decision for them as a couple, but I was happy to film for them on the day. Local to Templepatrick, the couple were joined by all of their loved ones at their wedding and had some brilliantly talented musicians throughout the day! For more about their big day be sure to take a look at their love story.

Conor & Lisa - Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video

Conor and Lisa not only wrote their own love letters to read out for my wedding video at the Rabbit Hotel, but they also wrote their own personal vows. Added to the fact that they are such a vibrant couple, this makes for a great showcase of a Rabbit Hotel Wedding Video that I hope you’ll enjoy watching. They were one of the first couples to marry at the stunning Boat House Ceremony room which is perched on the lake and has recently had more renovations to make it extra special for wedding couples.
