Is The Rabbit Hotel and Retreat Northern Ireland’s best venue for wedding video?

One of the most popular hotels in Northern Ireland has put itself on the map for wedding videography.

No one can deny that the Rabbit Hotel and Retreat in Templepatrick has positioned itself at the forefront of wedding couples when they are looking at venues.

Trendy, convenient, and designed with couples in mind, this wedding venue was voted AA Hotel of the Year 2022, and Indo50 Top 50 hotels to visit in Ireland.

I’ve written before about my top 5 wedding venues in Northern Ireland, and The Rabbit Hotel prides itself on a contemporary approach to catering for weddings.

Just a 20 minute drive from Belfast, and accessible across Northern Ireland thanks to its proximity to the M2, the Rabbit Hotel is well-positioned for couples across the province to choose as a great location for family and friends to travel to.

What makes the Rabbit Hotel stand out?

The hotel used to hold wedding ceremonies downstairs in its oval shaped room. I’ve filmed there before and it was nothing short of fine - but now they have built this with a purpose-built wedding ceremony room in their lakeside garden.

With large windows at the front, aged beams blending into a beautiful archway, and an open fire, what’s not to like about this new addition to the hotel?

The reception room is known as ‘The Loft’ and is uniquely laid out as a banqueting suite, with more high beams and integrated ivy giving the room charismatic warmth, not to mention a stunning purple chandelier that adds even more character to the bar area!

The Packages

‘Love at the loft’ caters for up to 140 guests. I’ve filmed the Loft when it has been filled with guests and it doesn’t feel crowded. With a bar area, outdoor patio, and dancefloor, it’s a great eating and melting pot for all of your guests.

Its one wedding per day policy makes it an extra special place to get married.

Packages include arrival drinks, a personal chef, their 3 course banquet, and smaller details such as cake stand and knife, along with everything else that you need for a great day (take a look at their updated wedding packages here).

Videography and Photography at the Rabbit Hotel

I’ve written before about the different styles of wedding videography, and what influences each style, but the main thing that influences a wedding video at the Rabbit Hotel is the way the venue is laid out and conveniently in one place.

Even another favourite of my wedding venues for video is Beech Hill house - but for me, where the Rabbit improves on this is in just how compact the venue is when moving from the ceremony, to reception - especially when you note how easily we can head down the stairs from the loft into their gardens for intimate shots of you and your partner.

The spa also features in most of my wedding videos here. With its huge glittery disco ball as the main décor of a modern and trendy spar, it forms a brilliant backdrop for videos where both the photographer and I can use for our own creative styles.

Be sure to take a look at my summary of Wedding Videos at the Rabbit Hotel.

The natural light of the boathouse ceremony room, means that with the right angles and settings I can capture those special moments where the sunlight streams into the room as you’re exchanging rings or going for that first kiss!

The warm lighting in the loft compliments people’s skin tones and makes the bride look even more fantastic than ever for my camera, especially when combined with the green ivory of the top table area which gets turned around in a brilliant dancefloor for that all-important first dance.

The staff are brilliant and working with both myself and the wedding photographer. I’ve even borrowed props from the bar as foreground for some of my shots and they’ve always been happy to help - this helps me complete my day as smoothly as possible!

After the wedding

Not only do wedding couples (and wedding guests) get the chance to stay in the Rabbit’s boutique hotel, but this gives you access to their spa - something that should never be missed out on!

From its Roman bath, man-made beach, to steam room and sauna, the spa has everything you need to unwind the day after your big day. There are two hot tubs and a beach bar, giving you time to reflect on your day as newly-weds.

The Rabbit also offer ‘Don’t Stop The Party’ additions - for you to enjoy with your guests the day after the wedding.

There’s the ‘I do BBQ’ in the private gardens, a ‘Hog Roast Buffet’ or ‘Brunch with the Wedding Bunch’ - where you can eat with your guests in the garden room.

These extra little touches put the Rabbit Hotel towards the top of my list of wedding venues in Northern Ireland.
