Larchfield Estate Wedding Video

Falling in Love with Larchfield Estate

If you’ve just started planning your dream wedding and you’re searching for a venue that blends rustic charm with timeless elegance, Larchfield Estate should be at the very top of your list. Tucked away in the rolling countryside just outside Lisburn (not far from Belfast), this 19th-century estate is one of Northern Ireland’s most sought-after wedding locations, and for good reason.

As a bride-to-be, the moment you drive through the tree-lined avenue, you’ll feel that magical calm that only Larchfield can offer. From the cobbled courtyards to the walled gardens, everything feels private, personal, and beautifully in tune with nature. It’s the kind of place that makes your wedding video at Larchfield Estate effortlessly cinematic — every corner feels like a movie scene waiting to happen.

What Makes Larchfield Estate So Special

Larchfield isn’t just a venue; it’s an experience. You’ll have exclusive use of the entire estate, which means it’s just you, your guests, and that peaceful countryside atmosphere. The barn itself is the heart of the day - rustic stone walls, soft fairy lights, and beams that glow under the warmth of the evening light.

For an outdoor ceremony, the gardens are breathtaking in every season. Whether you’re exchanging vows under the pergola in summer or walking hand in hand through the apple orchard in spring, your Larchfield Estate wedding video will be filled with those quiet, natural moments that truly tell the story of your day.

A Videographer’s Dream Setting

From a creative perspective, Larchfield Estate offers endless opportunities for beautiful storytelling. The mix of textures: stone, wood, greenery, and water, gives depth and variety to your film. There’s the peaceful pond that catches the sunset just right, the long gravel driveway perfect for a romantic walk, and the golden light that filters through the trees during golden hour.

Inside the barn, the soft lighting and warm tones make for stunning shots of speeches and first dances. And when night falls, the fairy-lit courtyard creates a magical glow that gives your wedding video at Larchfield Estate a cinematic, almost enchanted feel.

Where to Get Ready

Larchfield has beautifully styled on-site accommodation, including cottages and the elegant “Old Piggery” suite is the perfect space for you and your bridal party to get ready in comfort. The soft natural light here is ideal for those calm, emotional pre-ceremony shots that add so much heart to your wedding film.

Your videographer will love capturing those little details such as the lace of your dress, the bouquet being tied, the laughter between bridesmaids, all before that big reveal moment.

For Your Guests

Your guests will love how easy Larchfield is to reach. It’s just 25 minutes from Belfast, making it ideal for both local and travelling friends and family. There’s ample parking on-site, and plenty of nearby accommodation options too, from boutique guesthouses to city hotels if anyone prefers to stay in Belfast for the weekend.

For couples coming from abroad, Belfast International Airport (BT29 4AB) and George Best Belfast City Airport (BT3 9JH) are both under 40 minutes away.

Why Larchfield is a videographer’s dream

This venue blends heritage, architecture, rolling woodlands and diverse indoor spaces. Variety is the key to good storytelling. The estate’s mix of intimate interiors and expansive outdoors gives you both romantic portraits in dappled light and cinematic wide shots at golden hour (usually on my tamron 18 -28mm lens for incredible light flares from the sun, especially when coupled with a warm white balance kelvin to really show off the warmth of the light). The estate’s heritage barns, stonework, woodland paths and on-site accommodation allow me to create multi-scene narratives: bride prep in a cosy cottage, intimate vows in a tree-lined spot and evening party footage in a warmly lit barn. The contrasts – quiet natural scenes against lively reception footage make for emotionally satisfying films that you’ll want to watch over and over again.

Visual Highlights to plan for

  • Golden-hour meadow and woodland portraits. The Estate’s oak and beech stands create soft, cinematic backdrops – perfect for 50 frames per second slow-motion and gimbal tracking shots.

  • Stone barns and timber interiors. Gorgeous textures and warm ambient light for reception cuts and detail shots.

  • On-site cottages for storytelling. Preps captured in stress-free real-time in that hazy morning light of Northern Ireland during both summer and winter weddings.

  • Night-time party lighting. Whilst I bring my own Amran 60D bi-colour lights and set at least 2 of them onto light stands, the estate’s intimacy allows for a great sparkler exit shot, fairy lights and natural torchlight for evening choreography and slow-motion first dance sequences. I sometimes get my wedding couples to practise their first dance outside somewhere quite where I can film it on both my A and B Cam (either with a camera operator or just on a tripod). I use the sony creators App to link to my phone and make sure that everything is in focus, whether I’m using continuous auto-focus or sometimes even manual focus. Experience, and learning at a photography workshop taught me how to use manual focus – and that there are some situations where this stops the 5-point auto-focus from hunting and peaking at the wrong things.

Practical Shooting Considerations

Access and positioning. The estate is private, so we can stage shots without public interruptions. The estate offers a one-wedding-per-day policy.

Logistics. Being family-run, the estate team are used to accommodating suppliers (hence why they’ve won so many awards, including the Northern Ireland Wedding Award for years at a time. The wedding planning and on-the day co-ordination team are great at working with your second shooters, they understand the concept of content creation and make everything easier to setup on the day. I’ll always liaise with Larchfield’s events manager in advance to plan the best camera positions and ceremony sightlines that fits in with your wedding timeline.

Weather contingency. Northern Irish weather is variable at best. The estate’s mix of indoor spaces and sheltered outdoor locations is perfect for a smooth plan B that doesn’t compromise aesthetics.

How I film weddings at Larchfield

I love building a narrative across the estate and crafting a fun wedding video from high energy couples. I try and focus on the emotions of the day: from the small, nervous moments during prep in the cottages, capturing the formality and emotion of the ceremony with close lavalier microphones and static cameras so that I don’t impose myself on your wedding guests’ eyelines whilst preserving the angles of my shots; to framing stunning golden-hour portraits, sparkler exits and even irish goodbyes. The venue lends itself incredibly well to drone shots and footage and I’ll often ask the photographer if they need a wide aerial photograph for their collection of raw images. Whilst you’re enjoying your wedding breakfast with your honoured guests at the top table I’ll probably be working on a same day edit – seeing how I nailed that seamless gimbal move to move the viewer through the film, or transitioning from your ceremony to the speeches and back to tell the story of love that has run throughout your whole day.

Final Verdict

Larchfield Estate is, without a doubt, one of the best venues in Northern Ireland for Wedding videography and wedding photography. For couples who want variety, class, privacy and cinematic landscapres it gives videographers (and photographers) the creative freedom to build a layered and emotive wedding film – which is exactly what couples want when they invest in professional videography at such a high end luxury venue. If your day prioritises storytelling, romance and fun, combined with natural light and stunning backdrops then Larchfield Estate is a top pick.
